Step-by-Step Strategies Let's put down our ideas here for the different areas and then pick the ones we want to prepare based on our discussion. (You should put your initials by your input, e.g. SR)
Remember that our project statement page has the guidelines for this project and can help us move along even faster by incorporating the actions we already outlined.-MR
Since this assignment is about an authentic project I believe we should design the setting as such. What do you think about the below introduction to this project?
The participants will meet with SMA company representatives at the beginning of the week via Skype which they will be notified of the opportunity to gain 70 iPads for their learning environments under the conditions set forth. The representatives will communicate the following " Participants in this meeting must come together and form a technology committee which will be responsible for testing the technology, identifying the best usage of the technology (we will have to incorporate the objectives in this section). In order to reach these objectives each individual in this committee will receive an iPad in which you will complete a serious of activities as individuals and as a group. This project will serve as a tool to prepare each of you to implement the technology within your environments, therefore 100% participant is required to successfully complete this project within the next 7 days."
- Goals & Objectives-AC

The goals for the project is to have a group of teachers to colloborate together on providing recommendation for the integration of iPads in the classroom. The group will develop a presentation that will be delivered in to a board of company for receiving the donated iPads for the classroom.

The objective is for the group is to engage in authentic problem-based learning assignments where they can connect real-world scenarios to learned concepts. The group will gain insight and develop their own understanding of the technology as they identify ways that the technology can be incorporated in to their schools. They will have the ability to work with the new technology as they complete the project.

The goals and objectives for
- Provide recomendations for classroom iPad use - SR
- Collaborate in a small group - SR

Given the iPad and list of references, the class will develop a recomendation on the use of the iPad as a learning tool in the classroom.

- Collaborate with other groups located elsewhere - SR

Compare and contrast findings with other classrooms and collectively develop a recommendation to the board os directors.

Upon completing this project participants will be able to: - MR
1. Navigate the iPad Technology
2. Identify the skills needed to download and operate Apps within an iPad
3. Search ad locate Apps from within the iTunes store
4. Align the iPad technology with specific curriculum needs
5. Identify the advantages and disadvantages of the technology

- Essential Question(s)-AC

- Will the introduction of the iPad in the classroom instruction benefit learning and be useful for classroom activities?

-Participants working on this project will construct their own learning as they conduct research and collaborate to meet project goals. Participants aim to gain understanding and knowledge of how the iPad technology can be use to support their educational efforts in their environments (corporate, higher education, or k-12). -MR

- Combined Collaboration Activity (all 3 classes)-SR
- Compare/Discuss findings - SR
- Draft recommendation to the board - SR
-Participants will collaborate to list the benefits of the iPad within their specific learning environments.

-List the advantages and disadvantages of the technology and identify ways to overcome any barriers highlighted within the learning environment

Communicating via skype with video enabled, the classes will discuss their findings developing a contrast and compare visual aid to illustrate the findings. The last day will be used to collate the findings and draft recommendations in to a smooth copy recommendation to the board of directors. Specifically the group will:

- Create a summary of the pros and cons described by each class in a visual format.

- Collaborate to combine their draft recomendations in to a final MS word document for presentation to the board of directors.

- Class' Collaboration Activity (each class, individually)- SR
- Research use of iPad in educational settings - SR
- Develop and conduct survey - SR
Identify 2 resources (articles, lesson plan, blog post)
Identify 3 apps that can be downloaded to support specific content areas

After utilizing the iPad for two days, including using the three content area apps, collectively develop a list of pros and cons as to the benefits of utilizing an ipad in an instructional setting and develop a draft recommendation to the board of directors to share with the other classes. Specific directions include:

- Develop five question survey to measure student interest in using an ipad for educational purposes.

- Specify resources used by developing an annotated bibliography (five resources, three sources from the provided list and two original sources.

- Include a two paragraph summary of the iPad apps tested. First paragraph will briefly describe the purpose of the app and the second paragraph will briefly critique the usefulness of the app.

- Equipment- ALL
- iPads (duh) - SR
- Computers - SR (this could be the backup for users)
Skype
Internet/ Wireless access
itunes account for login and access
itunes account in which users can charge app downloads too (not all apps are free we can discuss this further when we meet)

- Specific Instructional Strategies (each step)- ALL
- Introduction of topic, explain how, where, why, when (background + objectives) - SR
With the opportunity to have several iPads donated to their institutions, a collaborative group of adult participants, serving as a technology committee, will create a Wikispace to identify and examine various elements of using iPads within their learning environments. During this project, committee members will identify topics and skills that are best suited for delivery on an iPad and will present this information to a board of company representatives at the end of the week. -MR

The rubric for the formative and summative assessment types are being placed on the Assessments & Rubrics page. Please review the rubrics and provide feedback.
- Formative Assessments-MR
- Monitor students discussion - SR
- Review draft survey - SR
- Monitor collaboration (Skype discussions, etc.) - SR
Monitor resource page that students will be creating together (I suggest we used last week's instructions for this assignment and tweak it to fit our needs) -MR
- Monitor Wikispace history showing student contribution to project
- Ongoing assignments will be submitted during the week (mindmap, advantages & disadvantages of the technology, resource list)

- Summative Assessments-MR
- Survey results document - SR
- Board recommendation document - SR
final presentation of the project to the company representatives
Resources: -MR
Case study Introduction (would be nice to have a video)

- As facilitators we will ensure that committee members participate in the project by reviewing the history of the wikispace.
- We will provide support to the committee members as they progress through the project.
- We will participate in the final presentation of the project to the company representatives.
- Management will be accomplished by effective planning so that the best resources are used to accomplish the learning goal and to try and anticipate problems and the corrective actions needed. By monitoring the students and learning environment to ensure the lesson is progressing as needed. By providing guidance and direction to maintain the learning environment and interject or intervene when conditions dictate.

7. What ethical considerations will you make to ensure sound decisions are made?
- Ensure that decisions are based on the principles surrounding committment to the individual, committment to society, and committment to the profession.

are able to use at any time and integrate when needed.
- Steps taken to get from the beginning activity to a concluding activity.
- Processes are grouped towards a united goal.
- A strategy that creates an environment where learning is accomplished and the
end result is a completed project.
